Allergies and Food Intolerances

Food allergies are some of the most common allergies in dogs.

ADVERSE FOOD REACTIONS

These reactions happen when your dog’s body does not recognise or accept the protein in a food, and to fight it off and expel it their immune system is activated. Usually these proteins are found in one or other of the foods that your dog habitually receives.

WHAT ARE THE
SYMPTOMS?

ITCHINESS OF THE SKIN
SEBORRHOEA
DIARRHOEA
vomiting
PAIN AND DISCOMFORT

BE CAREFUL!

The symptoms of a food allergy and of atopic dermatitis are very similar, and they occur around the same parts of your dog’s body.

HOW DO I IDENTIFY
WHICH FOOD IS CAUSING MY DOG
TO HAVE ADVERSE REACTIONS?

Your dog should be given a hypo-allergenic diet*

Begin by giving them a single ingredient

Do you notice any
symptoms?

THAT IS THE INGREDIENT THAT IS MAKING YOUR DOG HAVE AN ADVERSE REACTION. ELIMINATE IT FROM THEIR DIET.
MOVE ON TO THE NEXT INGREDIENT AND REPEAT THE PROCESS.

*Remember to carry out this process following your vet’s advice.
